Who is Sorry?

sorry = an expression of regret
regret = a feeling of sadness or disappointment
sadness = a feeling of unhappiness or grief
disappointment = feeling let down or frustrated

 Can a thing feel sorry?

Can an organisation (irrespective of the individuals therein) feel regret?

Can London Midland really feel sadness or disappointment at the late-running of my train?

 If not…

Then who exactly apologises for the inconvenience caused?

  1. Those would be the same entities that are “sorry” when the delay of my commuter train makes me late for work as much as a couple of times a week. LOL. I guess its the same all over!

Corporate regret . . . what an interesting concept? I’ll have to think about that one.

  2. I’d be interested to hear your thoughts on that, Miss D! ;)

  3. I know it’s a new reply to an old post but…I had to say it:

The phrases ‘I’m sorry’ and ‘I apologise’ are generally interchangeable. Unless you’re at a funeral.

  4. !!! ;)
