Sanger Rant #001

8 Nov 07

I was just wondering…

Why do people queue for half their lunch break for crap over-priced sandwiches at Greggs or Baguette Du Monde, rather than taking a packed lunch?!

I ask you…

I’d be prepared to bet that a lot of them would say, without a hint of irony, that they don’t have time in the morning to make a sarnie.

    Exactement, Mr Wilson! Exactement! 🙂

Not that I generally prepare my packed lunch in the morning – the previous evening tends to be where it’s, as they say, “at.” The same principle applies, though.

Despite the brief and apparently frivolous nature of my post, there is herewith a serious point to be made, which is central to the Slow Movement – that being… that whenever one feels one doesn’t have enough time, one needs to make time. One can, more often than not (or at least more often than one may think), make time by slowing down.

“More haste, less speed,” as they say. Which is to say that, when one slows down, one makes fewer mistakes, one is more efficient and one ultimately gets more done – or at least gets more of the stuff done that one wants to get done – or at least gets more of the stuff done that is beneficial to one – financially, spiritually, physicially… such as leisurely preparing sangers prior to one’s working day, and leisurely consuming such during one’s lunch break… at one’s, as they say, leisure!

Invest in Tupperware… and save money, your legs and your soul… 🙂
