Talk About Mixing Metaphors!

Okay I said I’d give up on the Collins Colplan Wisdom… but I just have to provide commentary on today’s maxim! Tiz thus…

In the kingdom of hope there is no such season as winter.

Since when were there seasons in a kingdom?!

I ask you… 😐

    The maxim brought to mind these lines from Richard III…

    Now is the winter of our discontent
    Made glorious summer by this son of York;
    And all the clouds that low’r’d upon our house
    In the deep bosom of the ocean buried.

    Hope does not entertain even the remote possibility of winter. It is forever spring looking forward to summer.

    It also reminded me of a favorite movie ‘Kingdom of Heaven’…
    Before the final battle, a bishop asks whether making a man a knight makes him a better fighter? The answer is ‘yes’ and it has to do with hope. Coincidentally, a documentary about the making of ‘Kingdom of Heaven’ is called ‘Kingdom of Hope.’

  2. […] there anything so perfect that it cannot be improved?” – Collins Colplan desk calendar saying 4 May […]

    Good film, Flan! & an interesting description of the difference between a “mere” man and a knight – without unecessary resource to religious connotations! 😉
